As per reports, a demonstration organised by the Coordinating Committee of the ‘#NoDdl1004 Promotion Committee’ is scheduled to take place in Rome, Italy, on Friday (02 October), in opposition to the proposed legislation referred to by organisers as the ‘Anti-Semitism Bill.’
• The demonstration is scheduled to commence from 1400 hours local time (1200 hours UTC) to 1600 hours local time (1400 hours UTC) in front of Montecitorio, during the scheduled parliamentary debate on the measure in the Chamber of Deputies.
• Reports indicate that the mobilization is sponsored by more than 250 organisations that have signed an appeal opposing the legislation. Organisers have stated that the proposed measure may affect freedom of expression and the right to political dissent, particularly in relation to criticism of Israeli government policies and the situation involving Palestinians.
• According to reports, the demonstration forms part of a wider series of related protests and public initiatives across Italy, including events in Venice on Wednesday (30 September), Milan on Thursday (01 October) and Catania on Friday (02 October), with organisers stating that further mobilisation is expected through and beyond 10 October, the World Day of Action in Defense of the Palestinian People.
