The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued the following Forecast and Nowcast warnings for Uttarakhand on Tuesday (06 October), as per the District-wise forecast PDF document issued at 1830 hours (local time) on Monday (05 October).
• Forecast: A yellow alert for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching 30 to 40 kilometres per hour has been issued for Almora, Nainital, Champawat, Dehradun, Tehri Garhwal, Pauri Garhwal, Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar.
• Forecast: No colour-coded warning has been issued for the remaining districts. However, light to moderate rainfall, snowfall at places located at elevations of 4,200 metres and above, and thunderstorms are likely at a few places across Uttarakhand.
• Nowcast: An orange alert for moderate rainfall ranging between five and 15 millimetres per hour and light thunderstorms with maximum surface wind speeds below 40 kilometres per hour has been issued for Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar and Champawat. The alert is valid until 0400 hours (local time) on Tuesday (06 October).
• Nowcast: A yellow alert for light rainfall measuring less than five millimetres per hour, moderate rainfall ranging between five and 15 millimetres per hour and light thunderstorms with maximum surface wind speeds below 40 kilometres per hour has been issued for Pithoragarh and Almora. The alert is valid until 0400 hours (local time) on Tuesday (06 October).
