The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued the following Forecast and Nowcast warnings for Uttarakhand on Sunday (23 August), as per the District-wise forecast PDF document issued at 1800 hours (local time) on Saturday (22 August).
• Forecast: A yellow alert has been issued for heavy rainfall likely at isolated places in Dehradun, Tehri, Pithoragarh, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, Pauri, and Bageshwar districts of Uttarakhand. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and intense to very intense spells of rainfall are likely at isolated places across all districts of Uttarakhand.
• Nowcast: An orange alert has been issued for light rainfall of less than 05 millimeters per hour, moderate rainfall ranging from 05 to 15 millimeters per hour, and light to moderate thunderstorms with maximum surface wind speeds of less than 61 kilometers per hour in Almora, Bageshwar, Chamoli, Dehradun, and Haridwar. The alert is valid until 0300 hours (local time) on Sunday (23 August).
• Nowcast: A yellow alert has been issued for light rainfall of less than 05 millimeters per hour, moderate rainfall ranging from 05 to 15 millimeters per hour, and light thunderstorms with maximum surface wind speeds of less than 40 kilometers per hour in Champawat, Nainital, Pauri Garhwal, Pithoragarh, Rudraprayag, Tehri Garhwal, Udham Singh Nagar, and Uttarkashi. The alert is valid until 0300 hours (local time) on Sunday (23 August).
