The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for Uttarakhand on Sunday (02 August), as per the District-wise forecast PDF document issued at 1800 hours (local time) on Saturday (01 August).
• Forecast: A yellow alert has been issued for heavy rainfall at isolated places in Dehradun, Tehri, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, and Nainital districts. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and intense to very intense spells of rainfall are also likely at isolated places in the hilly districts of Uttarakhand, while thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely at isolated places in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts on Sunday (02 August).
• Nowcast: An orange alert has been issued for light thunderstorms with maximum surface wind speeds of less than 40 kilometers per hour, moderate rainfall ranging from 05 to 15 millimeters per hour, and very intense spells of rainfall in Chamoli, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Champawat, and Nainital. The alert is valid until 0400 hours (local time) on Sunday (02 August).
• Nowcast: A yellow alert has been issued for light thunderstorms with maximum surface wind speeds of less than 40 kilometers per hour, accompanied by light to moderate rainfall or intense spells of rainfall in Uttarkashi, Tehri Garhwal, Pauri Garhwal, Rudraprayag, and Almora. The alert is valid until 0400 hours (local time) on Sunday (02 August).
