The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued the following Forecast and Nowcast warnings for Tamil Nadu on Wednesday (09 September).
• Forecast: A yellow alert for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and squalls has been issued for Ariyalur, Chengalpattu, Chennai, Cuddalore, Dindigul, Kallakurichi, Kancheepuram, Karur, Madurai, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Perambalur, Pudukkottai, Ramanathapuram, Ranipet, Sivaganga, Tenkasi, Thanjavur, Theni, Thoothukudi, Tiruchirappalli, Tiruvallur, Tiruvannamalai, Tiruvarur, Vellore, Viluppuram and Virudhunagar.
• Forecast: No colour-coded warning has been issued for the remaining districts of Tamil Nadu.
• Nowcast: No colour-coded warning has been issued. The update is valid until 0400 hours (local time) on Wednesday (09 September).
