The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued the following Forecast and Nowcast warnings for Tamil Nadu on Sunday (13 September) as per the latest updates issued on Saturday (12 September).
• Warning: A yellow alert has been issued for thunderstorms, lightning and squalls in all districts of Tamil Nadu on Sunday (13 September).
• Nowcast: An orange alert has been issued for moderate rainfall between 05 and 15 millimeters per hour and light thunderstorms with a maximum surface wind speed of less than 40 kilometers per hour in Tiruchirappalli, Perambalur, Viluppuram, Tiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, Tirupathur, Vellore, Krishnagiri, Tiruvarur, Kancheepuram, Ranipet, and Chengalpattu. The alert is valid until 0400 hours (local time) on Sunday (13 September).
• Nowcast: A yellow alert has been issued for light rainfall of less than 05 millimeters per hour, moderate rainfall between 05 and 15 millimeters per hour, and light thunderstorms with a maximum surface wind speed of less than 40 kilometers per hour in Erode, Salem, Namakkal, and Dindigul. The alert is valid until 0400 hours (local time) on Sunday (13 September).
