The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued the following Forecast and Nowcast warnings for Odisha on Wednesday (23 September), as per the district-wise forecast PDF documents issued on Tuesday (22 September).
• Forecast: A red alert has been issued for isolated extremely heavy rainfall, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface winds of 50 to 60 kilometres per hour for Kalahandi, Nawarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri on Wednesday (23 September).
• Forecast: An orange alert has been issued for isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface winds of 50 to 60 kilometres per hour for Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kandhamala, Balangir and Nuapada on Wednesday (23 September).
• Forecast: A yellow alert has been issued for isolated heavy rainfall, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 40 to 50 kilometres per hour for Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Baragada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Subarnapur, Boudh, Puri, Khordha and Nayagada on Wednesday (23 September).
• Nowcast: A yellow alert has been issued for light rainfall, light thunderstorms and winds of less than 40 kilometres per hour, along with low cloud and ground lightning for Nayagada, Khordha, Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nawarangpur, Kandhamala, Kalahandi, Balangir, Nuapada, Boudh, Subarnapur, Mayurbhanj, Kendujhar, Dhenkanal, Anugola, Debagada, Sambalpur, Baragada, Jharsuguda, Sundaragada, Kataka, Jagatsinghapur, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Baleshwar, valid till 0400 hours (local time) on Wednesday (23 September).
