The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued the following Forecast and Nowcast warnings for Odisha on Sunday (20 September), as per the district-wise forecast PDF documents issued on Saturday (19 September).
• Forecast: An orange alert has been issued for isolated thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 40 to 50 kilometres per hour for Koraput and Malkangiri on Sunday (20 September).
• Forecast: A yellow alert has been issued for isolated thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface winds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour for Nayagada, Khordha, Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Mayurbhanj, Kendujhar, Kataka, Jagatsinghapur, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Bhadrak, and Baleshwar on Sunday (20 September). No alert has been issued for the remaining districts on Sunday (20 September).
• Nowcast: A red alert has been issued for heavy rainfall, severe thunderstorms and winds of 62 to 87 kilometres per hour, along with high cloud and ground lightning for Baleshwar, valid till 0335 hours (local time) on Sunday (20 September).
• Nowcast: An orange alert has been issued for moderate rainfall, moderate thunderstorms and winds of 41 to 61 kilometres per hour, along with moderate cloud and ground lightning for Mayurbhanj, valid till 0324 hours (local time) on Sunday (20 September).
• Nowcast: A yellow alert has been issued for light rainfall, thunderstorms, low cloud and ground lightning for Angul, Balangir, Bargarh, Bhadrak, Boudh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Rayagada, Sambalpur, Subarnapur, and Sundargarh, valid till 0323 hours (local time) on Sunday (20 September). No alert has been issued for the remaining districts, valid till 0336 hours (local time) on Sunday (20 September).
