As per reports, a hunger strike organized by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) is scheduled to take place near the Palanganatham Roundabout–Natarajar Theatre area in Madurai, beginning at 0900 hours (local time) on Tuesday (30 December).

The protest is being held to voice opposition to communal politics and to call for unity and continuation of development initiatives. The event is expected to be attended by party leaders and supporters, with speeches planned at the protest site.
