As per reports, the Elbert County Public Health department stated that Colorado recorded 94 norovirus outbreaks between 01 September to 22 December 2023, the highest number in five years. Most of the cases have been reported in schools (42) and childcare facilities (34).
Officials have advised that outbreaks of any illness in any setting (i.e., norovirus in school settings) are required to be immediately reported (within four hours) to state or local public health, per Colorado regulation 6 CCR 1009-1.
