As per reports, a citizens’ group in Mumbai has scheduled a protest called ‘Namak Satyagraha’ (Salt Protest) on Sunday (09 August). The organising group called ‘Ekta’ has called residents to assemble at 1100 hours IST near Mulund East Highway for the protest.
Ekta is demanding protection of 256 acres of Mumbai’s salt pan land between Mulund and Kanjurmarg as well as to protest its proposed development. They have stated that the area plays a vital role in flood mitigation and ecological protection.
