As per reports, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued an alert to healthcare providers across the US to be vigilant for dengue symptoms, especially in patients with recent travel histories to affected areas. Cases in the country have reportedly tripled compared to 2023 as of Monday (24 June), with most linked to travel to regions with rapid dengue spread.
• Florida is the only state with confirmed local transmission, while US territories like Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands are also affected. Thirty-eight states and Washington DC have reported at least one case of dengue fever in 2024.
