As per reports, the United Services Trade Union (Verdi) has launched a 72-hour bus strike in the Hamburg-Holstein transport company (VHH) affecting the Greater Hamburg area from 0300 hours (local time) Thursday (21 March) till 0300 hours (local time) Sunday (24 March).
• Around 2,500 employees of the VHH are expected to participate in the strike action, which will affect almost 170 bus routes in the area by Sunday (24 March) morning.
• The night buses operated by VHH will also be impacted due to the strike.
• The strike will particularly affect VHH bus routes in Bergedorf, the Vier- and Marschlande as well as in the west of Hamburg in Eidelstedt, Lurup, Osdorf and Blankenese.
• The strike has been called against the inadequate offer being extended by VHH to its employees despite five rounds of negotiations on the general collective agreement.
• Ahrensburg and the northeastern area of Hamburg will not be affected by the strike.
