As per reports, a mass casualty road traffic incident occurred in Pikesville, Baltimore County, Maryland, after a Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) bus collided with multiple vehicles before crashing into a building in the 1500 block of Reisterstown Road on Wednesday (08 July).
• Emergency services were dispatched at approximately 1748 hours local time (2148 hours UTC) following reports of the collision involving the transit bus, several passenger vehicles, and a commercial structure.
• Authorities confirmed that 28 people sustained injuries during the incident. Emergency responders reported that multiple individuals were trapped as a result of the collision.
• Due to the number of casualties, officials declared the event a mass casualty incident, prompting a large-scale emergency response.
• The response included approximately 15 ambulances, medical evacuation helicopters, and the Shock Trauma GoTeam to provide emergency medical treatment and transport injured individuals to healthcare facilities.
• Baltimore Gas and Electric personnel also responded after power lines were brought down during the collision, creating an additional public safety hazard.
• As emergency operations and investigations continue, Reisterstown Road (Maryland Route 140) remains closed in both directions between Old Court Road and Sudbrook Lane.
• Motorists have been advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes until emergency operations and safety assessments are completed.
