Bomb threat emails received by five courts in Uttar Pradesh on Friday (13 February)

As per reports, authorities in Uttar Pradesh received email threats targeting court premises in five major districts on Friday (13 February). The details are as follows:

• The threatening emails were sent to the official email IDs of courts in Lucknow, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Meerut and Mirzapur. The messages warned of bomb attacks at these judicial complexes.
• The emails were received during court working hours following which court proceedings were immediately halted and premises were evacuated. In Varanasi alone, over 3,000 lawyers and 5,000 litigants exited the premises. The District Judge and other judicial officials vacated the campus.
• Police teams, bomb disposal squads and dog squads conducted thorough searches of the buildings and surrounding areas. As of the latest update, no suspicious objects have been found.
• Cyber cell units and security agencies have joined the investigation. Senior officials in Lucknow are monitoring the situation, and inquiries are ongoing to determine whether there is any coordinated intent behind the simultaneous threats.
