According to reports, the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has advised most regions in Indonesia to be aware of the potential for heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds and coastal flooding/tidal waves on Wednesday (03 September).
• There was potential for light rainfall in the cities of Padang, Pekanbaru, Palembang, Bengkulu, Jambi, Pangkal Pinang, Denpasar, Palu, Gorontalo, Mamuju, Jayawijaya, Jayapura, Merauke, Ambon, Sorong, and Manokwari while moderate rainfall was forecast in Medan City, Tanjung Selor, and Samarinda City.
• The potential for rainfall accompanied by lightning existed in the areas around Tanjung Pinang City, Pontianak, Palangka Raya, Banjarmasin, Ternate, and Nabire.
• The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has urged the public to remain vigilant regarding the potential for strong winds in Banten, Southeast Sulawesi, West Java, Central Java, East Java, and Bangka Belitung.
• BMKG even detected the potential for tidal flooding in the coastal areas of the Riau Islands, Bangka Belitung, Jakarta, Central Java, and East Java.
• Aceh, Bengkulu, Lampung, South Banten and South West Nusa Tenggara are to remain alert to high sea waves of 2.5 – 4 meters.
