As per reports, the City of Montreal and the union representing municipal blue-collar workers (Syndicat des cols bleus regroupés de la Ville de Montréal – CUPE Local 301) reached a tentative agreement in principle on a new collective contract as of Tuesday (22 September).
• Reports suggest that the agreement successfully averted a full weeklong strike action by more than 6,000 municipal workers, which was scheduled to commence at 0001 hours local time (0401 hours UTC) on Tuesday (22 September).
• Reports indicate that union leadership suspended all planned picket lines and labor disruption measures following an eight-day intensive negotiation blitz and conciliation process.
• Reports indicate that union members are scheduled to participate in a formal ratification vote regarding the terms of the tentative agreement in the coming weeks.
