As per reports, the Kenyan government, through the Kilifi County Security Committee, has imposed a ban on evening access to all public beaches in Kilifi County from Monday (15 December) onwards till the festive season is over to address rising insecurity concerns, including robberies, harassment, and other crimes targeting visitors.
• The restriction, effective from Monday (15 December), prohibits entry or presence on beaches after 1800 hours local time (1500 hours UTC), with security patrols and checkpoints to enforce compliance.
• The affected beaches include Watamu Beach, Diani Beach fringes, Bamba Beach, and Malindi Beach access points.
