As per reports, the Philippines began the 4th ASEAN Women Leaders’ Summit (AWLS) in Manila on Tuesday (29 September). The summit is scheduled to continue until Thursday (01 October) and brings together government officials and development partners to discuss women’s political, economic and social leadership under the theme “Women’s Leadership for Inclusive Prosperity in the ASEAN Region”.
• The summit includes discussions on ASEAN initiatives concerning gender equality and women’s empowerment, the strategic priorities of the ASEAN Committee on Women, and the ASEAN Regional Plan of Action on Women, Peace and Security.
• Activities on Tuesday (29 September) include the launch of the study on Women’s Political Participation and Leadership and the 2nd ASEAN-EU Dialogue on Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women and Girls.
