Arirang Grand Festival scheduled at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul from Friday to Sunday (05-07 June)

As per reports, the National Gugak Center is scheduled to hold the Arirang Grand Festival at Gwanghwamun Nori Madang and the surrounding areas of Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul, South Korea, from Friday (05 June) to Sunday (07 June) to commemorate the Gugak Day and Gugak Week.

• On Friday (05 June), designated as Gugak Day, a large-scale traditional performing arts parade is scheduled to take place from Daehanmun Gate at Deoksugung Palace to Gwanghwamun Square. Pungmul troupes representing approximately 20 universities are expected to participate.
• On Sunday (07 June), a “Grand Showcase of Masters and Singers” featuring renowned performers Lee Chun-hee, Yoo Ji-sook, and Jo Ju-seon is expected to take place.
• Additional performances by young traditional Korean musicians, including the Sorikkot Gagaekdan and Korean traditional music bands Chodong and Iro, are scheduled on Saturday (06 June) and Sunday (07 June).
• At the National Gugak Museum, a pop-up exhibition linked to the commemorative exhibition Arirang_Your Song and a “Make Your Own Arirang” experience programme are also scheduled during the event period.
