As per reports, following an appeal from President William Ruto, Kenyan opposition leader Raila Odinga has called off the anti-government protests which were scheduled for Monday (08 January).

Over the past two weeks, sporadic protests were reported. Some of the protests turned violent with numerous incidents and clashes between security personnel and protesters reported.

• Three fatalities have been reported, with over 400 injuries, and instances of looting.
• Over 20 attacks against journalists have also been observed during protests, with concerns about the involvement of the state.
