According to reports, a bus carrying approximately 50 Amarnath pilgrims overturned near the S-Mode at Hariganiwan in the Gund area of Kangan, along the Srinagar–Sonmarg highway in Ganderbal district, Jammu and Kashmir, during the early hours of Tuesday (28 July).
• The bus was travelling from the Baltal base camp to Srinagar when it met with the accident. The vehicle overturned and rolled approximately 20–25 metres down a roadside slope before coming to rest on the roof of a house.
• At least 30 passengers sustained minor injuries and were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical examination and treatment. No fatalities have been reported.
• Personnel from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Jammu and Kashmir Police immediately launched a rescue operation.
• Security personnel also managed the evacuation of passengers, medical assistance, crowd management, and traffic regulation in the affected area. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
