As per reports, Algeria has decided to sever diplomatic relations with the UAE on Thursday (10 September), following what its Foreign Ministry described as a series of provocative or hostile actions by Abu Dhabi despite repeated warnings.
• The Algerian Foreign Ministry stated that the UAE’s actions had reached a level that could no longer be considered acceptable or tolerable and that Algeria had exhausted all means of preserving bilateral relations.
• The UAE ambassador was summoned to the Algerian Foreign Ministry, informed of the decision and given 48 hours to comply. The UAE Foreign Ministry has not issued an immediate response.
• Algeria and the UAE have differing positions on several regional issues, including Israel and the Western Sahara dispute. Algeria also began the process of cancelling its 2013 air services agreement with the UAE in February 2026.
