According to reports, Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) workers assembled at the Sangarmal Shopping complex where they had decided to hold a hunger strike on Friday (31 January) morning. The strike was called to demand the release of Baramulla Lok Sabha MP and party Chief Sheikh Abdul Rashid.
Police have detained the protestors at the Kothi Bagh Police Station. Further investigations by the local authorities continue.
