As per reports, the National Meteorological Service (SMN) has issued a weather alert for Mexico from Monday (24 February) to Thursday (27 February), predicting extreme conditions across various regions.
• High temperatures between 35 degrees Celsius and 40 degrees Celsius are expected in Sonora, Sinaloa, Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, Guerrero, Morelos, Oaxaca, and Chiapas due to anticyclonic circulation.
• Cold Front Number 28 will bring heavy rainfall and strong winds to southeastern states, including Oaxaca, Chiapas, Tabasco, and Quintana Roo.
• Gusts of wind between 50 to 70 kilometres per houra are expected in the Isthmus and Gulf of Tehuantepec, while 40 to 60 km/h winds are forecasted in Veracruz, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo.
• Powerful winds in Baja California, Sonora, and Sinaloa could cause disruptions in coastal areas and the Gulf of California.
• Heavy rainfall in southern and southeastern states may result in localized flooding, landslides, and falling trees in affected areas.
• A new cold front is expected to reach northern Mexico by Wednesday (26 February), bringing strong winds and a further temperature drop to Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas.
• Minimum temperatures of negative ten degrees celsius to negative five degrees Celsius with frost conditions are expected in mountainous areas of Chihuahua and Durango, while other regions will experience temperatures between negative five degrees Celsius and zero degrees Celsius.
• Maritime conditions will be rough in the Gulf of Tehuantepec, with waves between one to three meters expected.
