As per reports, a significant and abrupt cold wave is expected to impact parts of Germany, bringing an end to the current mild spring-like conditions from Wednesday (12 March).
• By Wednesday (12 March), temperatures are expected to reach a low of five degrees Celsius in northern Germany, with southern regions experiencing a maximum of 10 degrees Celsius.
• The severe change is expected to be accompanied by thick clouds, rainfall, and even snow at lower altitudes, making for a stark contrast to the warm weather currently prevailing.
• The cold snap is expected to impact large parts of Germany, with the northern and eastern regions experiencing the most severe temperature drops. Areas such as Hamburg, Bremen, Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are expected to be affected the most in northern Germany.
• Areas such as Berlin, Brandenburg, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia are anticipated to be affected the most in eastern parts of Germany.
• Bavaria (especially in the Bavarian Alps), Baden-Württemberg (particularly in the Black Forest region) may experience heavy rainfall due to the abrupt cold wave.
