As per reports, activists from the collective ‘Marshojme, S’festojme’ staged a protest at the Parliament building in Prishtina, Kosovo, on Thursday (29 February) condemning Members of Parliament (MPs) who opposed a draft law on reproductive health and medically assisted fertilization.
The protest called for the dismissal of Duda Balje as head of the Parliamentary Commission on Human Rights and urged the sanctioning of MPs.
• The second reading of the draft law, initially scheduled for 22 February, was cancelled due to a lack of quorum in the Assembly, contributing to delays in the legislative process.
• MPs proposed amendments during the legislative process, with Vetevendosje party members suggesting a clause limiting certain rights to couples. The amendment failed to pass.
• Activists and citizens expressed dissatisfaction with the opposition to the law, thus organizing a protest.
