According to the Central Weather Administration (CWA), an earthquake with 5.6 magnitude was reported 55.9 km off the coast of Hualien County in eastern Taiwan at 1040 hours (local time) on Sunday (21 April).

Tremors were reported in parts of Hualien (Hualien City, Yanliao, Tongmen, Xiulin, Xilin, Taroko, Guangfu, Xibao), Nantou (Hehuanshan) and Taichung (Lishan).
