The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported an earthquake with 5.0 magnitude about 90 km southwest of Pangandaran Regency at 1152 hours (local time) on Sunday (31 December). The earthquake was at a depth of 10 km.

Tremors were reported in Garut, Banjar, Cianjur, Tasikmalaya, and Pangalengan.
