As per reports, a magnitude 4.3 earthquake was recorded in the Maluku Sea, approximately 72 km from Indonesia, near Pulau Bakalan Island, Sulawesi Tengah, at 0420 hours (local time) on Wednesday (08 October). The depth of the quake has not been conclusively determined, but is presumed to be shallow.
No tremors were reportedly felt onshore, and there are no official reports of damage or casualties at this time. Given the shallow depth, minor ground shaking could have been possible in nearby coastal regions, though no effects have been recorded.
