As per reports, an explosion at a firework factory in Suphan Buri Province (roughly 100 kms north of Bangkok) resulted in the deaths of 17 people on Wednesday (17 January). The explosion took place around 1600 hours (local time) in a remote area.

The reason for the blast is not currently clear, but Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has ordered an investigation to ascertain if the factory was operating illegally or not.
