Pre-trip approval has to be dynamic
A country risk rating set annually is a liability in an active conflict. Approval thresholds should read live severity and route conditions at the moment of booking, and re-evaluate before departure.
Know the route, not just the destination
Airports close, corridors shut, borders queue. The risk to a traveller is frequently on the way in rather than at the address in the itinerary. Monitor the transit path with the same seriousness as the destination.
Rehearse the extraction
The organisations that move people successfully are the ones that decided in advance who authorises an extraction, which provider executes it, and what the trigger is. Deciding that during an event costs hours you do not have.
Communicate before you are asked
Travellers who receive a clear brief before departure and a check-in prompt on arrival behave predictably in a crisis. Travellers who have heard nothing improvise.
