According to reports, authorities are maintaining precautionary restrictions across all districts of Jammu and Kashmir through Saturday (07 March);
• Curbs remained in force across several parts of Kashmir on Friday (06 March) following protests linked to the ongoing West Asia conflict. Authorities imposed restrictions on movement and public gatherings to prevent further unrest.
• Friday congregational prayers were not held at the historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar as authorities enforced restrictions across parts of the Valley and placed Kashmir’s chief cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest amid fears of further protests.
• Security forces are maintaining high alert in Srinagar’s Lal Chowk as a precaution after recent protests by Shia Muslims over the killing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Restrictions, barricades, and close monitoring were also implemented in other key locations to maintain law and order.
• Educational institutions were shut and mobile internet speeds were reportedly restricted as a precautionary measure. Security forces, including police and paramilitary personnel, were heavily deployed in sensitive areas of Srinagar and other districts.
