The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) reported a 4.0 magnitude earthquake off the east coast of Osumi Peninsula, Japan, at approximately 0935 hours (local time) on Sunday (01 March).

• The earthquake was reported at a depth of 50 kilometres.
• Maximum seismic intensity of 02 has been recorded in Nichinan City in Miyazaki Prefecture and Osaki Town in Kagoshima Prefecture.
• While intensity 01 has been recorded in Miyazaki City, Kushima City, Shiiba Village, Miyakonojo City, and Kobayashi City in Miyazaki Prefecture, and Kanoya City, Soo City, Kinko Town, Kimotsuki Town, Kagoshima City, and Kirishima City in Kagoshima Prefecture.
