As per reports, a significant weather event involving strong thunderstorms is expected to impact North-Central Alabama on Thursday (26 February).
• The National Weather Service in Birmingham issued an updated significant weather alert at 1410 hours (local time) for Winston and Walker counties, which remains in effect until 1500 hours (local time).
• According to Doppler radar tracking, a strong thunderstorm near Camp McDowell moved east at 30 mph, producing wind gusts up to 40 mph and nickel-sized hail measuring 0.88 inches in diameter.
• The primary areas affected by the alert included Jasper, Curry, Smith Lake, Manchester, and the Walker County Airport.
