As per reports, teachers in Antioquia conducted a protest in central Medellín, Colombia, on Tuesday (24 February), starting at approximately 1000 hours (local time). The demonstration marked the start of a planned 72-hour strike. Nearly 40,000 teachers participated due to reported failures in medical care access and medicine delivery within the teachers’ health system.

The protest route moved through main roads in the city centre, including Oriental Avenue. Organisers stated that buses departed Medellín for Bogotá to engage national officials of the National Fund for Social Benefits of Teachers regarding service provision issues. A decision on escalation to an indefinite strike is expected by Thursday (26 February).
