Multiple protests against and pro-Duterte across Manila on Monday (23 February)

As per reports multiple protests have been reported in Manila on Monday (23 February) by critics and supporters in anticipation of the confirmation of charges of Robert Duterte by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The following protests were reported:

• The Free Our Unionists Network along with other labor groups and NGOs staged a protest at the Department of Justice building, along Padre Faura Street at 1000 hours (local time). They sought the release of detained unionists and political prisoners imprisoned by Duterte.
• Duterte supporters gathered in front of the Supreme Court building at around 1010 hours (local time). They called for the safe return of Robert Duterte and filed a petition for that purpose at 1100 hours (local time).
• The Philippine National Police remains alert for possible mass gatherings and demonstrations, and has placed Civil Disturbance Management teams as well as emergency responders on standby.
