Protest anticipated outside National Police Service Headquarters in Nairobi on Friday (20 February)

As per reports, at approximately 0900 hours local time (0600 hours UTC), a large-scale protest march is expected to be directed toward the National Police Service Headquarters (Vigilance House), located within Nairobi’s Central Business District on Friday (20 February).

• The demonstration is anticipated to be organized and led by senior opposition figures, including former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, together with members of the United Opposition coalition.
• Opposition organisers have stated that mobilisation efforts are currently underway across Nairobi and neighbouring counties, with publicly referenced estimates anticipating the participation may reach up to 100,000 individuals.
• The organisers have indicated their intention to demand accountability from the Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, in connection with an alleged attack on a church service that occurred on 25 January in Othaya, Nyeri County.
