As per reports, a fire incident occurred at an apartment building located on Montseny Street in Manlleu, near Barcelona, on Monday (16 February).

The incident was reported at approximately 2110 hours local time (2010 hours UTC) on Monday (16 February).

• At 2142 hours local time (2042 hours UTC), firefighters declared the fire extinguished.
• The fire reportedly originated a storage room converted into residential accommodation on the roof of a five-storey building, where occupants were unable to escape.
• The incident resulted in five fatalities and four minor injuries.
• As of 0005 hours local time on Tuesday (17 February) (2305 hours UTC on 16 February), the Mossos d’Esquadra Investigation Unit, supported by public safety patrols were investigating the cause of the incident.
