As per reports, dozens of dump truck drivers staged a protest at the Maluku Governor’s Office in Ambon City on Monday (09 February), opposing the provincial government’s decision to close multiple Galian C (sand, stone, and gravel) mining sites across Ambon.
During the demonstration, protesters parked at least 49 dump trucks around the governor’s office premises under police and municipal security supervision. The protesters are demanding the reopening of Galian C mining activities or the introduction of transitional measures and alternative livelihood support to safeguard their income and employment.
