As per reports, Governor Eduardo Ramírez Aguilar announced the launch of Operation Hostigamiento, a statewide security strategy across Chiapas, in response to an increase in organized crimes, on Wednesday (04 February).

The operation includes the installation of permanent and mobile checkpoints, reinforced security filters across the state, heightened patrols in urban and peri-urban areas, and screening measures beginning at airports.

• The security deployment is particularly concentrated in the capital, Tuxtla Gutiérrez, where authorities reported recent high-impact violent incidents.
• The governor acknowledged that the measures will be disruptive to daily life, while stressing that the scale and permanence of the operation are necessary due to elevated criminal activity.
• Priority crimes identified under Operation Hostigamiento include homicide, highway robbery, extortion, kidnapping, and robbery with or without violence.
