As per reports, tremors were felt in Nay Pyi Taw, 4.0 kilometres Northeast of Mandalay City in Myanmar at approximately 1242 hours (local time) on Tuesday (03 February), indicating an earthquake with a potential magnitude of 4.2 on the Richter Scale.
The seismic event has been registered by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) and by Android Early Warning Systems. Verified and updated information by other seismic agencies is awaited. The tremors were recorded at a depth of 10 kilometres, indicating a shallow seismic event.
• Furthermore, it is likely that shaking was felt in nearby population centres of Mandalay, Amarapura, and Sagaing. However, this is yet to be confirmed.
