As per reports, a Polregio passenger train derailed on the Miechów-Słomniki section of the Warsaw-Krakow railway line at approximately 2100 hours local time (2000 hours UTC) on Tuesday (20 January). The train was carrying around 20 passengers.
• Infrastructure Minister Dariusz Klimczak confirmed the incident via social media, noting no injuries were reported.
• All passengers remained on board initially due to low temperatures before being transferred to a replacement bus service.
• Emergency services, including eight fire brigades, and an investigative commission are on site. Train traffic on the affected section is suspended indefinitely for investigation and cleanup as of Wednesday (21 January).
