Update on flight disruptions in Delhi as of Tuesday (20 January) ahead of Republic Day

As per reports, as of Tuesday (20 January), the authorities have issued passenger advisories highlighting operational disruptions at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport in connection with Republic Day parade until Monday (26 January) rehearsals and flypast activities.

• The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Airport Sector, has formally cautioned travellers that flight operations may face both delays and cancellations during the affected period, advising passengers to verify flight status with airlines, arrive at terminals well in advance, and monitor official airline and airport notifications.
• The impact of the airspace restrictions has extended beyond Delhi, with Bhopal Airport issuing alerts regarding disruptions to flights operating between Bhopal and Delhi. In this context, specific flight suspensions have been announced, including IndiGo flight pair 6E-6364/6365 (DEL–BHO–DEL), which will remain suspended until Monday (26 January), and Air India flight pair AI-1723/1894 (DEL–BHO–DEL), will also be suspended until Monday (26 January).
• Additionally, private aviation service platforms have acknowledged the operational impact of the restrictions. Paytm Checkin has released an advisory indicating that flights scheduled between between Wednesday to Monday (21-26 January) may be rescheduled or cancelled due to temporary airspace limitations at Delhi IGI Airport, reflecting broader industry preparedness for disruptions linked to Republic Day rehearsals and celebrations.
• In addtition, two commercial flights operating to and from Srinagar Airport were cancelled on Tuesday (20 January) following the issuance of a NOTAM at Delhi Airport in connection with Republic Day security and operational arrangements. Officials confirmed that the cancellations were undertaken by the respective airlines due to airspace and operational restrictions in effect over Delhi, directly impacting connectivity with Srinagar.
