As per reports, the updates about the protests in Minneapolis as of Sunday (18 January) are the following:

• On Saturday (17 January), downtown Minneapolis became a flashpoint for intense civil unrest as hundreds of anti-ICE protesters confronted and chased off a small group of far-right activists near City Hall.
• The counter-protest, organised by the People’s Action Coalition Against Trump, vastly outnumbered a pro-ICE “anti-fraud” rally.
• Anti-ICE demonstrators used water balloons, snowballs, and loud music to drown out and physically push Lang’s group into the lobby of Hotel Indigo.
• Jake Lang (the organiser of the pro-ICE protest) alleged on social media that he was stabbed during a scuffle, though he claimed his protective vest prevented injury.
• The protests occur against a backdrop of “Operation Metro Surge,” which has seen approximately 3,000 ICE and Border Patrol agents deployed to the Twin Cities.
