The National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio has issued a Fire Danger Statement for near critical fire weather conditions across south-central Texas for Friday (16 January), effective from 1200 to 2000 hours local time (1800 to 0200 hours UTC), due to gusty northerly winds and low relative humidity.
• Northerly winds are forecast to gust up to 35 miles per hour during the effective period, increasing the potential for rapid fire spread where fuels are dry.
• Conditions are expected to peak during the afternoon hours and gradually ease toward the evening as winds weaken.
