The Uzhydromet has issued a nationwide weather forecast indicating changeable conditions across Uzbekistan on Thursday (16 January). The forecast highlights periods of rain and snow, fog formation, gusty westerly winds, and localised heavier precipitation in mountainous areas
• Changeable weather with intermittent rain and snow is expected across most regions, including Tashkent City, Tashkent Region, Sirdaryo, Jizakh, Samarkand, Bukhara, Navoi, Kashkadarya, Surkhandarya, and parts of the Fergana Valley. Fog formation is expected in several areas, particularly during nighttime and morning hours. In Andijan, Namangan, and Fergana regions, precipitation is expected mainly during the second half of the day.
• Light snowfall is expected in parts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and the Khorezm Region. Mountainous regions of the republic are forecast to experience rain and snow, with locally heavy precipitation in some locations.
• Westerly winds are expected across most regions at speeds of 7 to 12 metres per second, with localised gusts increasing to 15 to 20 metres per second. In the Fergana Valley, winds are expected to shift from easterly to westerly, with gusts reaching up to 13 to 18 metres per second.
• Nighttime temperatures are expected to range from slightly below freezing to mild conditions across northern and western regions, while daytime temperatures are forecast to remain marginally above freezing in several areas. Mountainous regions are expected to record colder nighttime temperatures compared to lowland areas.
