As per reports, a fire occurred at approximately 0200 hours local time (2300 hours UTC – Tuesday 13 January) in an apartment located on the ground floor of a four-story residential building on Haşim Bey Street in the Acıbadem neighborhood of Kadıköy, Istanbul.
• The fire originated for reasons that have not yet been determined and rapidly spread throughout the ground-floor apartment.
• Dense smoke reprotedly spread to the upper floors of the building, creating hazardous conditions for residents.
• Some occupants on the upper floors were able to evacuate independently, while others remained trapped and sought fresh air by opening balconies and windows.
• Following emergency notifications, fire brigade units, police, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters conducted ladder evacuations to rescue residents trapped on upper floors.
• Eight individuals, including children, sustained injuries primarily related to smoke inhalation, with one person reported in serious condition.
• All injured individuals were provided first aid at the scene and transported to hospitals by ambulance.
• The fire was reportedly brought under control and fully extinguished after approximately one hour. An official investigation has been initiated to determine the cause of the fire.
