As per Badan Meteorologi, Klimatologi, dan Geofisika (BMKG), a magnitude 4.1 earthquake was recorded in Halmahera, Indonesia, at 1745 hours (local time) on Friday (09 January).

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km. No casualties or damage have been reported by the authorities as of the latest update, and no tsunami warning has been issued.
