As per reports, an explosion occurred at a Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) Madakkathara sub-station at around 1930 hours (local time) on Wednesday (07 January), resulting in a power supply outage in Thrissur, Ollur, and Mannuthi areas. Meanwhile, partial disruption was also reported at Chalakudy and Kunnamkulam areas.

In addition, the explosion reportedly occurred inside the sub-station in Madakkathara, while the KSEB officials are investigating the incident. It is reported that efforts are underway to fix the fault, while the substation has not fully restored its operations.
